POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers
- Works with internal divisions to assist with financial questions, analysis of data, and providing division specific input
- Analyzes the completeness and accuracy of accounting reports and transactions
- Prepares workpapers and assists external auditors on the annual financial audit
- Prepares adjusting journals to financial records
- Complies with financial reporting requirements as they relate to federal, state, and local grant requirements
- Reviews general ledger accounts to ensure proper reporting of financial information in accordance with established accounting practices and rules
- Complete basic bank reconciliations, Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) assignments and general work assignments with minimal supervision
- Attend management meetings to provide presentations and support to divisions related to financial information
- Adhere to established accounting standards and city deadlines on assigned tasks
- Carry out day-to-day accounting activities to ensure compliance with federal and state awards related to grant reimbursements and reporting
- Work in a team-based environment requiring problem solving skills in the application of accounting standards
- Performs related duties, as assigned
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelors degree in Accountancy or closely related field
- One (1) year of professional accounting experience, or any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to one year of professional accounting experience
- Or any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the above Minimum Requirements
DESIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
- One (1) year of experience in governmental accounting and/or budgeting
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid Arizona drivers license
- Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity
