Door Systems ASSA ABLOY is seeking an experienced Payroll & Benefits Specialist. This position will report directly to the Corporate Controller, Dock Products Canada Inc. with additional alignment and collaboration with the Swedish parent organization, ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems. The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing and benefits administration across the Canadian entities. This individual will serve as a key partner to HR, finance, and regional leadership teams, supporting payroll operations, statutory compliance, and employee benefits programs while maintaining strong internal controls and data integrity. The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to-end payroll processing, benefits administration, and related reporting, while also identifying opportunities for process improvements and system efficiencies. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong technical knowledge of payroll legislation, a continuous improvement mindset, and the ability to manage complex processes in a dynamic environment. The Senior Payroll and Benefits Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely processing certified payrolls (with and without prevailing wages), support payroll processing and perform other payroll/benefit related work as required.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and submit certified payroll reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with prevailing wage requirements; support ongoing process improvements.
Support biweekly Canadian payroll processing, including data entry, validation, and reporting.
Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity.
Ensure compliance with all applicable wage and hour legislation, tax regulations, union agreements, and company policies.
Perform accurate calculation, deduction, and remittance of union dues in accordance with collective agreements and regulatory requirements.
Assist Finance with the preparation of monthly journal entries related to payroll.
Process biweekly payroll for hourly (union and non-union) and salaried employees.
Perform biweekly payroll reconciliations and support monthly reporting requirements.
Drive process improvements and automation initiatives, including optimizing vendor tools and streamlining timecard collection, review, and approval workflows with managers.
Support the harmonization and standardization of payroll platforms and processes across entities.
Prepare and complete year end reporting, T4s and T2200 etc.
Provide support to employees regarding payroll, time and attendance, and benefits-related inquiries
Provide timely ad hoc financial analysis and reports as required by senior leadership and other departments.

What You Will Need:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Human Resources or Business Administration or equivalent
47 years of experience in payroll and benefits management
Strong time management and prioritizing skills
Good customer service skills
Working knowledge of ADP but not required
Must possess a strong work ethic and be a team player
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel
Multi-provincial payroll experience required
Working knowledge Canadian payroll tax and employment legislation
Ability to deal with difficult, sensitive and confidential information
