Assistant Corporate Controller
Location: Local candidates only - must reside within a reasonable commute (less than 1 hour)
Compensation: $120,000 annually
Employment Type: Full-Time / Direct Hire
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Assistant Corporate Controller to join a growing organization within the Construction and Real Estate industry. This position is replacing a current employee and will play a key role in supporting corporate accounting operations across multiple entities.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong blend of real estate and construction accounting expertise, with hands-on experience in cost segregation, property tax appeals, job costing, corporate banking, audit preparation, and complex journal entries related to closing statements and loan closings.
This role requires a highly technical accounting professional who is comfortable operating in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment and has current hands-on experience with JDE (JD Edwards), which is a non-negotiable requirement.
Key Responsibilities
Assist in overseeing accounting operations for multiple entities within the construction and real estate portfolio
Prepare and review closing statement journal entries and loan closing journal entries
Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Coordinate and assist with audit preparation and external auditor requests
Manage and monitor job cost accounting activities
Support corporate banking functions, cash management, and reconciliations
Assist with property tax appeal processes and documentation
Work closely with leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance
Utilize JD Edwards (JDE) for accounting operations, reporting, and financial management
Prepare financial analyses and reports using advanced Excel functions including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables
Qualifications:
Job Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
5+ years of accounting experience within Construction and/or Real Estate industries
Experience managing accounting functions across multiple entities
Strong background in:
Cost segregation
Property tax appeals
Job costing
Audit preparation
Corporate banking
Closing statement journal entries
Loan closing journal entries
Current hands-on experience with JD Edwards (JDE) is required and non-negotiable
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting processes
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a deadline-driven environment
Must be local and within a reasonable commute distance (less than one hour)
