This position provides support primarily to the accounting and membership fulfillment functions of the Society.Accounting support entails supporting the CFO with the processing of a variety of financial reports, and the overall operations of the Societys financial processes.
Membership support will focus on membership fulfillment efforts and responding to member and non-member requests through all communication channels of the Society.
ACCOUNTING- Manages monthly Membership Invoicing Process.
- Processes cash receipts, handles bank deposits, and credit card
- Assures accurate accounting of revenue in conjunction with CFO.
- Prepares monthly financial statements for the SMPS
- Coordinates shared dues reporting & payments to
- Assists the CFO in providing support to chapter treasurers on finance related
- Reconciles membership deposits between QuickBooks and the Societys AMS (membership database).
- Processes accounts
- Helps maintain general accounting system for SMPS and the SMPS
- Assists with the monthly bank
- Provides financial summaries and reports as
- Travel & expense management
- Coordinates programs & events setup in database
- Responds to membership inquiries and coordinates appropriate responses in a timely, organized, and efficient manner.
- Processes member applications.
- Produces and manages member and events reports.
- Working with the membership team, supports and maintains the SMPS membership database, regularly reviewing data records of individuals and employers/organizations.
- Notes and corrects, as able, returned email and mailed Re-sends email and mail as appropriate.

REQUIRED GENERAL- Some college preferred or equivalent work experience
- Two-five years of experience in customer service, administrative support, handling cash receipts, and membership preferably in a non-profit setting
- Accuracy
- Excellent data entry skills
- Comfort with numbers and ability to create transactional reports

- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Resourcefulness and problem-solving aptitude required
- Excellent time management and organizational skills

- Keen interest in continued professional
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Membership database experience, ideally with Impexium
- QuickBooks experience is desirable
- Mailchimp experience
- Familiarity with social media platforms such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram,
- Familiarity with WordPress (website) platform
- DMV (Washington DC, Maryland, Northern Virginia)
- A mix of remote and onsite
- Some travel may be required
