Atrium is seeking, on behalf of our client, a Cost Accounting Manager to join the team based in Fort Lauderdale.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$120k - $130k
Position Overview:
The Cost Accounting Manager will oversee all cost accounting activities for two manufacturing plants and act as a key financial partner to Operations leadership. This role focuses on standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation while driving cost visibility and margin improvement. The Cost Accounting Manager position requires strong analytical skills and collaboration with cross-functional teams to support operational and financial goals. The ideal candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Responsibilities of the Cost Accounting Manager:
- Manage all financial aspects of a manufacturing plant, including budgeting, financial reporting, cost accounting, and internal controls.
- Participate in month-end and year-end closes to ensure accurate financial statements.
- Prepare annual budgets and forecasts to support strategic planning as Cost Accounting Manager.
- Partner with Operations to provide timely, detailed analytical reports on costs, spend, and variances.
- Analyze plant utilization and labor operations to identify efficiency opportunities.
- Perform all cost accounting activities, including standard cost roll, multi-level bills of materials, labor and overhead rates, and product cost development.
- Conduct general accounting activities such as journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability through cost reporting and process understanding.
- Guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Oversee physical inventory reviews and support audits.
Required Experience/Skills for the Cost Accounting Manager:
- 5+ years of experience in cost accounting or related financial roles as Cost Accounting Manager.
- Prior cost accounting exposure in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for Cost Accounting Manager
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and cost structures.
- Knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
Preferred Experience/Skills for the Cost Accounting Manager:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
- High attention to detail and accuracy as the Cost Accounting Manager
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in process improvement initiatives.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Advanced coursework or certification in cost accounting or management accounting is a plus.
- Continuing education in financial analysis or operations management preferred.
