Junior Project Controller role in Houston, TX
- Contract role with hybrid work schedule (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday in office, Wednesday and Friday remote/work from home)
We are seeking an energetic Project Controller to support program and project controls within a team focused on safety and operational excellence. This role plays a key part in managing financial performance across capital projects, ensuring accurate cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting.
What you'll do:
- Track and record project costs through work orders, purchase orders, and invoices
- Monitor budgets, support forecasting, and resolve cost discrepancies
- Provide financial reporting and analysis to support project estimating, contractor selection, and management
- Perform final cost reconciliation and support project closeout activities
- Prepare detailed cost reports and communicate insights to project teams and leadership
- Analyze cost trends and predict future expenditures
- Identify and recommend improvements to cost control and forecasting processes
- Support full lifecycle project controls from initiation through closure
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships
What we're looking for:
- Degree in Accounting, Business, Engineering, or Project Management preferred
- 5 years of experience in cost control on capital projects
- Strong proficiency in Excel and other business software tools
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present to stakeholders at all levels
- Experience analyzing cost and schedule data relationships is a plus
- Ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights
- Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to learning and process improvement
