The Accounting Manager is a strategic leader within the Capital Assets Group (CAG). This role is responsible for directing the North America finance team to deliver timely, actionable financial intelligence. Beyond overseeing daily operations, the Accounting Manager serves as a change agent, responsible for the integrity of financial reporting, the evolution of internal controls, and the continuous improvement of accounting systems and automated workflows. Education & Experience : Academic Background: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. Professional Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in leadership/supervisory capacity. International Scope: Experience managing multi-currency transactions and accounting operations in Canada and/or LATAM is highly preferred. Technical Proficiency: Extensive experience with large-scale ERP systems (Oracle Fusion preferred). Certification: CPA license is a plus. Skills & Abilities: Analytical Leadership: Ability to use data-driven insights to determine root causes and advise senior management on courses of action based on Actual vs. Forecast trends. Advanced Excel: Mastery of Excel for data querying, complex modeling (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables), and reporting automation. Technological Agility: Familiarity with AI tools for process improvement and the ability to translate financial needs into technical requirements for IT. Communication: Proven ability to translate complex financial data into clear, concise narratives for non-finance stakeholders. Project Management: Strong background in contract accounting and the use of procurement systems (POs/Requisitions) to manage spend and bill for reimbursement. Work Conditions : Location: Hybrid (Owings Mills, MD) or Fully Remote options available. Travel: Minimal to N/A Pay & Benefits : Compensation is determined by various factors such as location, education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as internal and external equity and organizational needs. Additionally, this role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. The salary range for this position is $113,200 to $141,500 annually. The posted range reflects our national average range for the job. We may ultimately pay more or less than the published range based on the factors mentioned above. This range may be modified in the future. Manage general ledger maintenance, AR, and complex intercompany reconciliations across multiple regions. Talent Development & Support: Manage and mentor a team of 3-4 professionals. Foster a culture of continuous learning and maintain robust succession plans. Operational Continuity: Ensure seamless departmental performance by providing cross-functional backup for team members. This role requires a "player-coach" mindset, with the ability to step in and support staff-level duties during peak periods, leave, or high-volume cycles. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Sales, Operations, and IT to align financial reporting with business goals, maximizing revenue generation and client service excellence. Project Accounting & Process Innovation Advanced Project Accounting: Lead the financial tracking of contract budgets, partner shares, and expenses. Leverage project management and procurement software to ensure real-time visibility into project profitability. System Optimization: Act as a key stakeholder in the evolution of the company's technology platform. Work closely with IT to implement system enhancements, automate manual tasks, and integrate AI-driven tools for data validation. Process Engineering: Proactively identify bottlenecks in the accounting cycle. Document, streamline, and automate workflows to reduce the monthly close cycle while increasing data accuracy. Financial Reporting & Compliance Monthly Close Management: Orchestrate the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes. Review key reconciliations and ensure all deliverables meet SEC and internal deadlines. Reporting & Analysis: Provide senior leadership with concise Actual vs. Budget and Actual vs. Forecast variance analysis and commentary. Ensure accurate reporting of foreign currency impacts and regional performance. Internal Controls: Maintain and modernize a SOX-compliant environment. Assist Corporate Accounting in developing and documenting global financial policies that account for North American and LATAM operations. Audit Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors, ensuring a seamless flow of information for quarterly reviews and annual audits.
