POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

Job Title: Local School Bookkeeper - (Anticipated)

Opening Date: February 23, 2026

Closing Date: Until filled

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary: Based on BCSS Salary Schedule

Expected Workday: 8 hours per day/40 hours per week

Terms of Employment: 10 - Month

Reports To: Principal & BCSS Chief School Financial Officer

Job Goals:

  • To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school's bookkeeping office and proper accounting of all school funds so that maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related field preferred
  • Accounting experience preferred
  • Proven ability in customer service
  • Computer literate
  • Knowledge of accounting procedures
  • Such alternatives or additional qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Performs daily office routines and procedures.
  • Issues purchase orders as directed.
  • Processes purchase orders from requisitions for purchases from all funding sources.
  • Maintains a daily teacher attendance record and the accompanying records for substitute teachers.
  • Processes and mails accounts payable checks.
  • Assists CFO as directed.
  • Maintains accurate records of fundraising activities.
  • Maintains teacher attendance data for payroll purposes.
  • Maintains all bookkeeping records for verifying balances through receipts, bank deposits, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and maintain accounting databases.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boaz City Board of Education.
