Billing Specialist Salary Range: $70k-$82k Position Summary The Billing Specialist is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and finalizing client invoices in accordance with firm and client guidelines. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple billing cycles while meeting strict deadlines. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a law firm environment and a thorough understanding of legal billing practices and e-billing systems. Key Responsibilities Prepare, edit, and process monthly prebills and final invoices for attorneys and practice groups. Review billing entries for accuracy, compliance with client guidelines, and appropriate billing narratives. Submit invoices through various e-billing platforms and track approvals and payment status. Communicate directly with attorneys, paralegals, and clients to resolve billing discrepancies or questions. Maintain accurate billing records and ensure all client-specific billing arrangements are followed. Collaborate with the accounting team to reconcile billing data, process adjustments, and handle write-offs or credits. Assist with client reporting requirements and provide billing summaries as requested. Support collections and accounts receivable follow-up as needed. Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance billing accuracy and efficiency. Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience). 3-5 years of billing experience in a law firm or professional services environment required. Proficiency with legal billing software (e.g., Aderant, Elite 3E, or similar) and e-billing platforms (e.g., LEDES, Tymetrix, CounselLink). Strong understanding of billing procedures, client guidelines, and time entry systems. Excellent attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple deadlines. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with attorneys and clients. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial reporting tools.
