Senior Tax or Experience Staff Accountant

Pillar Optimization Partners (POP) is a growing tax and business advisory firm based in Metairie, Louisiana, serving clients across the Gulf South and beyond. We specialize in complex partnership, real estate, and business taxation with a focus on quality, efficiency, and forward-thinking advisory services. We are seeking an Tax Senior to join our expanding team. This position involves a mix of tax compliance, bookkeeping oversight, and proactive planning for closely held businesses and high-net-worth clients. Responsibilities Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations. Manage client bookkeeping, including reconciliations, adjustments, and preparation of financial reports. Develop and maintain accurate workpapers supporting tax filings and financial data. Provide tax planning services, including projections, entity structure optimization, and year-end planning. Work directly with clients to gather information, resolve issues, and deliver meaningful insights. Identify process improvements and assist in implementing technology-driven efficiencies. Research tax issues and stay current on relevant laws and regulations. Qualifications CPA or actively pursuing CPA license. 3-6 years of recent public accounting experience, including individual and business taxation. Strong understanding of accounting principles and general ledger systems. Proficiency with common accounting software (QuickBooks Online preferred) and tax software (Lacerte, ProConnect, or similar). Excellent communication and organizational skills. Prior experience preparing financial statements or managing client bookkeeping a plus.
