Interim Accounting Manager Indianapolis (On-site) Our client is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to join their team on an interim basis to support a growing organization during a period of transition. This role will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, managing the month-end close process, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and supporting the broader finance team as needed. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, detail-oriented, and comfortable stepping into a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Oversee daily accounting operations, including general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting Manage the month-end close processes Review and approve account reconciliations, accruals, and adjusting journal entries Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and variance reports Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed asset accounting as needed Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. Assist with audit preparation and provide support for external auditors Monitor cash flow activity and assist with budgeting and forecasting Identify process improvement opportunities and help implement more efficient accounting procedures Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to provide financial insight and reporting Support special projects, system implementations, clean-up work, or process documentation efforts as needed Help mentor and guide accounting staff during the engagement Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in a leadership or supervisory role Prior experience as an Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller, Controller, or Senior Accountant strongly preferred Strong understanding of month-end close, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting Experience overseeing A/P, A/R, payroll, reconciliations, and cash management Advanced Excel skills and experience working within ERP systems Ability to adapt quickly, prioritize multiple tasks, and work independently Strong communication skills and ability to partner with multiple department Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual's skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs.
