Carlisle Weatherproofing Technologies (CWT) is a leading building envelope solution supplier that effectively drives energy efficiency and sustainability in commercial and residential applications. We are seeking a Cost Accountant ll at our Bonded Logic facility in Chandler, AZ.

Job Summary:

The Cost Accountant will play a critical role in supporting operational excellence in our building materials and manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for managing product cost accounting processes, analyzing manufacturing performance, and providing actionable insights to plant and operations leaders. The ideal candidate will combine strong cost accounting skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with manufacturing leaders, enabling them to drive efficiency, improve margins, and achieve business goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Cost Accounting & Financial Analysis
    • Maintain and update standard costs for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods in the ERP system.
    • Partner with Operations to review and maintain Bill of Materials and Routings
    • Monitor, analyze, and report manufacturing variances (material usage, labor efficiency, overhead absorption, scrap, etc.).
    • Reconcile inventory accounts and prepare accurate cost of goods sold (COGS) reporting.
    • Support month-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance explanations related to inventory
    • Prepare and analyze cost roll-ups for new and existing products.
    • Conduct physical inventory counts and cycle counts in collaboration with operations.
  • Business Partnership with Manufacturing
    • Supports production supervisors.
    • Translate financial data into clear operational insights to guide decision-making.
    • Partner with manufacturing teams to identify cost savings opportunities and efficiency improvements, including COS initiatives.
    • Participate in daily/weekly production meetings to understand performance drivers and challenges.
    • Provide support for capital expenditure requests with financial justification and post-project ROI analysis.
  • Continuous Improvement & Operational Support
    • Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen cost control and financial reporting.
    • Support data collection efforts for key performance indicators (KPIs) and plant-level performance tracking.
    • Support lean manufacturing, waste reduction, and productivity initiatives with relevant financial analysis.
    • Other duties as assigned

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting.
  • Experience working with manufacturing ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, Epicor, Sage) preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Education and Experience:

  • Required:
    • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
    • 35 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Preferred:
    • Building Materials Industry experience preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Office and manufacturing plant environment; occasional exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Some travel to plant locations may be required.
