Kforce has a client in Nashville, TN that is seeking a Payroll Specialist.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations, including garnishments, deductions, and benefits
- Maintain and update payroll records, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, tax withholding forms, and direct deposit information
- Calculate and process bonuses, commissions, retroactive pay, and other special payments.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare journal entries for the accounting team
- Review and validate timesheets and hours worked, liaising with managers and employees to resolve discrepancies
- Prepare and file payroll tax reports (e.g., W-2s, 941s, 940s) and respond to tax agency inquiries as needed
- Coordinate year-end payroll procedures and support audits related to payroll and benefits
- Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll inquiries and resolve issues in a timely, professional manner
- Ensure payroll system (e.g., ADP, Paychex, UKG, Workday, etc.) is up to date and functioning properly
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to align payroll processes with organizational goals* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field (preferred)
- 3+ years of experience in full-cycle payroll processing
- Strong knowledge of federal and state wage and hour laws, payroll taxes, and reporting requirements
