Summary
The Cost Estimator is responsible for estimating the cost of projects and determining the time, money, and resources the projects will require. The Cost Estimator reports to the Engineering Manager.
Functions
Define the project scope, time period, phases to be estimated, and establish any boundaries for estimates or project requirements.
Identify any schedule or budget constraints, and how those will be resolved.
Ensure that all expected costs have been properly presented to customer for review, approval and acceptance.
Finalize the cost estimate.
Maintain all files and data related to the project.
Develop project plans for the duration of the project.
Identify and quantify cost factors, such as production time, materials, and labor expenses.
Travel to job sites to gather information on materials needed, labor required, and other factors.
Use computer software to calculate estimates.
Evaluate a jobs cost-effectiveness/profitability.
Read blueprints and technical documents to prepare quotes.
Collaborate with engineers, customers, suppliers, etc. on quotes.
Recommend ways to make a job more cost effective or profitable.
Analyze the requirements and specifications of a project and determine the cost involved to launch the project.

RequirementsPosition Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position that regularly requires at least 40 hours per week.
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelors degree in Engineering/Manufacturing (or equivalent experience).
3+ years of experience in manufacturing (machined components) estimation, production planning, manufacturing engineering or related role.
Experience with ERP/MRP systems and cost estimation software preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
