This position is responsible for performing the accounting functions of grant-funded programs and assists in preparing and reporting financial statements conforming to principles of accounting and grant and regulatory requirements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Monitors Federal, State, and other grants in accordance with approved budgets and contract/grant requirements Monitors and reconciles grants receivable and deferred revenue Prepares or assists in the preparation of Financial Report Worksheets for grant accounting and reporting Assists the Assistant Controller with preparing grant billing and invoices, and federal drawdown requests Maintains and updates the Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) Assists the Assistant Controller with reviews claims for payment of services, materials and supplies and approval of accounts payable Assists and/or coordinates in the monitoring and reporting of information pertaining to unclaimed payments under the State of Hawaii Unclaimed Property Program. Remit funds to the State as required Responsible for managing operational data and ensuring data integrity and accuracy Assists in the month-end closing and financial reporting process including account analysis and reconciliation Assists in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies Ensures internal control over compliance is in place and operating effectively Prepares audit work papers for audit purposes and program period closing; and assists auditors as needed Monitors compliance with information privacy laws. Refer problems for resolution to the Chief Compliance Officer. Promote ongoing awareness of information privacy requirements QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required (Associate's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field and five or more years of professional accounting experience may be substituted) Three or more years of professional accounting experience required Experience in a not-for-profit organization preferred Job Knowledge/Skills: Proficient in Office products including Word, Excel, and Outlook Knowledge of GAAP principles and fund accounting Possession of a valid State driver's license with access to an automobile Able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends **Pay: $50-54k/year
