Scope of Work:

Performs advanced accounting support functions requiring a strong understanding of accounting principles, procedures, and automated financial systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site support of daily accounting operations performing advanced accounting tasks such as preparing, posting, and verifying entries to general and subsidiary ledgers.
  • Analyze and reconcile complex accounts and financial statements, identifying discrepancies and initiating corrective actions.
  • Prepare journal vouchers and entries, including adjustments and accruals, ensuring alignment with internal accounting controls and standards.
  • Review invoices, statements, and financial documents for accuracy and completeness; ensure compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Apply appropriate accounting distribution codes and verify the accuracy of calculations and postings.
  • Work closely with operational units and corporate shared services to investigate variances, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate financial records.
  • Maintain detailed accounting records using automated systems and spreadsheets; ensure records are current, complete, and audit-ready.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including account reconciliations and audit preparation.
  • Coordinates with corporate shared services to assist in developing or refining accounting processes and procedures to improve accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Five (5) years of experience providing in-depth knowledge of established accounting methods and practices, particularly in a structured, automated financial environment
  • Specialized work in government contracting preferred.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with work order systems such as Maximo preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to resolve complex discrepancies and errors with minimal guidance.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily complete a Tier 1 Public Trust background check, if required for the position.
  • Must be able to maintain the ability to access the government worksite.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer or desk.
  • Frequent use of hands for typing, data entry, and handling paperwork.
  • Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
