We are looking for an Accountant to oversee controllership responsibilities over reservations accounting transactions for multi-million dollar revenue and expense categories. This position will be a contract and onsite in Miramar, FL.
Due to the specific legal and contractual requirements associated with this position, only US Citizens and Green Card Holders/Permanent residents will be considered for this role. Candidates must be able to work directly on CAI's W2.
What Youll Do
Supervise and coordinate activities of staff engaged in analyzing, validating, and processing related transactions
Oversee financial statements of various investment companies incorporated in different countries
Prepare the annual accounting operating budget and related forecasts
Interact with Operating and Financial groups, Information Technology, external vendors, Revenue Partners, and Accounting Management
Manage and coordinate responsibilities of several coordinator staff to ensure adherence to Sarbanes Oxley internal controls, procedural/accounting policies, and achievement of departmental goals
Apply General Accepted Accounting Practices to determine accurate accounting
Understand the impact of exchange rates and valuation issues for each country where the companies are incorporated
Identify areas of potential internal control issues and function as liaison with Internal Audit for timely resolution
Review account reconciliations and intercompany transactions and post journal entries prepared by staff members
Assist management in the analysis and identification of significant Year over Year or Month over Month flux drivers relating to P&L and Balance Sheet accounts
Prepare and/or review monthly balance sheet reconciliations ensuring timely resolution on outstanding items and verification that equity investments are properly reflected in the financial statements
Assist management in generating financial schedules, Sarbanes Oxley documentation, and other items for external and internal auditors as needed
Conduct User Acceptance Testing on financial systems or upgrades/modifications of existing systems and determine whether accounting/reporting requirements are adequately met
Assist management in hiring, evaluating performance, and conducting performance reviews for direct reports
Interface with auditors and Information Technology as needed
Recognize and troubleshoot system-related issues and communicate findings to department analysts
Maintain a systematic record retention system
Articulate service, process, and system-related issues to management
Maintain time period statistical reports that substantiate production volume
Maintain department standard service levels for assigned responsibilities
What You'll Need
Required:
Four-year Finance and/or Accounting Degree from an accredited university
Minimum 4-7 years experience in financial/management reporting and general ledger reconciliation and analysis
Minimum 3-4 years of accounting practice and supervisory experience
Knowledge of, and ability to apply, U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to interact successfully with principals, operating and administrative staff, attorneys, and accountants as well as senior management
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports, technical journals, legal, and other general business documents
Efficient time management skills
Preferred:
CPA/MBA
Working knowledge of IBM AS400 environment and PC-based applications (Excel/Word/Lotus Notes)
Familiarity with data extraction techniques, such as AS/400 system query
Experience with JD Edwards or similar accounting software
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
The pay range for this position is $28.00-$30.00 per hour (USD). Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave as provided by applicable law.
