The Department of Education and Early Development is recruiting for a Travel Coordinator (Accounting Technician 2) for our Administrative Services Division.

What you will be doing:
The incumbent will work both independently and as part of a team to oversee departmental travel, approvals in the state accounting system (IRIS), treasury receipts, drawing federal funds, processing adjusting journal entries (AJEs), accounts payable and serving as the liaison for Shared Services of Alaska (SSOA).

The position is assigned a cubical with ample light and has the option for teleworking after an initial training period, with the opportunity for flexible scheduling. Who we are looking for:
* Experience with researching and submitting transactions in IRIS, the State of Alaskas online accounting system, or other large-scale computerized accounting systems
* Experience with ALDER, or other large-scale computerized data reporting systems, including the ability to create reports
* Experience with the Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
* Ability to multitask without compromising deadlines
* Ability to perform tasks efficiently while maintaining a high level of accuracy One year of entry technical level accounting or clerical bookkeeping experience.

Substitutions:
Certification as an Accounting Technician from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience.

Post secondary education from an accredited college will substitute for the required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month) if it includes at least 6 semester/8 quarter hours in Accounting.
