R Roese Contracting Co. is a Michigan based company specializing in the construction of underground and aerial infrastructure in the Telecommunications and Gas Distribution sectors, as well as others. We are seeking a senior accountant for a diverse and challenging role in our company. This position will have exposure to many functions within the company, will actively participate in the day-to-day operations and monthly close process, and will provide other financial and administrative analysis and support to the organization as needed. This role reports directly to the CFO and provides the opportunity to quickly grow into a financial leadership role within the company.
Position Details:
- Heavily involved in month-end, quarter-end and year-end general ledger closing cycle, financial statement preparation and account reconciliations
- Reconcile and maintain detail schedules for various general ledger accounts
- Compile and analyze financial information to prepare journal entries
- Assist in the year end close and preparation of various detail schedules in support of the annual audit
- Reconcile bank and other general ledger accounts as needed on a daily, monthly or annual basis
- Prepare cash management reports as necessary
- Analyze financial and non-financial information to identify trends or concerns, providing information to leadership to improve present and future financial performance
- Provide backup and assistance as necessary for various accounting functions such as billing/accounts receivable, payroll, accounts payable and inventory
- Responsibilities may include special projects, preparation of ad-hoc reports and analysis, various administrative tasks and/or oversight of ongoing administrative or other functions
- Provide assistance and support to other departments within the organization as necessary
- Provide ongoing support in the implementation of accounting and/or operational systems and internal control procedures, processes, and improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in accounting
- CPA designation a plus
- 3 - 5 years of direct accounting experience in a multi-entity environment
- Experience in a Construction Contracting environment would be a positive, including job costing and percentage of completion accounting
- Strong computer skills with a high level of proficiency in MS Office programs
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Excel
- High level working knowledge of accounting software with job costing focus
- Valid State Drivers License
