Project Accountant

Job Description
The Project Accountant will take responsibility for client invoicing, collections management, and project budgeting. The role includes providing backup assistance on coding and processing accounts payable (A/P), time sheets, and expense reports. The successful candidate will conduct accurate contract documentation, administration, and maintenance, including fee and budget entry. They will work with section and project personnel to provide timely contract performance data and resolve financial issues. The Project Accountant will coordinate the project accounting system within the department and work with technical staff to ensure compliance with contractual requirements. Additionally, they will assist multiple project managers and staff on a daily basis and perform other duties as needed.
Responsibilities
+ Manage client invoicing and collections.
+ Oversee project budgeting.
+ Provide backup assistance in coding and processing accounts payable.
+ Process time sheets and expense reports.
+ Conduct contract documentation, administration, and maintenance.
+ Ensure accuracy in fee and budget entry.
+ Collaborate with project personnel to provide contract performance data.
+ Resolve financial issues related to projects.
+ Coordinate the project accounting system within the department.
+ Ensure compliance with contractual requirements.
+ Assist multiple project managers and staff daily.
+ Perform additional duties as required.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in project accounting and cost management.
+ Proficiency in month-end financial processes.
+ Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
+ Skills in budgeting and general ledger management.
+ Data entry capabilities.
+ Associate degree in a closely related field or equivalent experience.
+ Familiarity with Earned Value Management.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
+ Experience in collaborating with managers in a fast-paced environment.
+ Self-motivated and well-organized.
+ Detail-oriented with a capacity to handle confidential information.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $43.00/hr.
