Tax Manager
Job Description
The Tax Manager will oversee tax preparation and planning activities, provide mentorship and training to junior staff members, and maintain client relationships.
Responsibilities
+ Conduct final review of basic tax returns prepared by staff members, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws and regulations.
+ Review data for intermediate and advanced tax returns, providing guidance and support to junior staff members as needed.
+ Prepare advanced tax returns for individuals, businesses, and other entities, leveraging expertise to optimize tax outcomes for clients.
+ Review tax plans prepared by staff members, providing feedback and recommendations to enhance the quality and effectiveness of tax planning strategies.
+ Develop and implement advanced tax planning strategies for clients, identifying opportunities for tax optimization and risk mitigation.
+ Maintain client relationships, serving as the primary point of contact and presenting tax-related information to clients as needed.
+ Manage and train staff members, providing mentorship, guidance, and support to facilitate their professional development and growth.
+ Maintain client relationships with wealth management offices assigned to managers, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver integrated tax solutions.
+ Communicate directly with the director, providing updates on client engagements, staff performance, and other relevant matters.
+ Stay current on tax law updates and changes, proactively researching and analyzing developments to ensure compliance and inform client recommendations.
+ Conduct initial interviews with potential new hires, assessing qualifications, skills, and fit for the organization.
+ Serve as a liaison with regional schools for internship programs, establishing partnerships and recruiting top talent to join our team.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in tax, accounting, and tax return preparation.
+ Certified Public Accountant (CPA) qualification.
+ 4-6 years of experience in tax preparation, tax planning, or tax consulting roles.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
Work Environment
This role is predominantly in-office, with 90% of work conducted on-site and hybrid options available. The tax team consists of over 15 professionals across multiple locations, offering a collaborative environment. Opportunities for growth exist beyond the tax department.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $100000.00/yr.
100% company paid employee only premiums for Health, Dental & Vision Coverage4% Company 401k match, 100% vested
Workplace Type
This is a hybrid position in Lenexa,KS.
