Pay Range: $65,000 – $100,000 (Based on experience and qualifications)

We’re looking for a Government Accountant who will play a vital role in ensuring the integrity of our public funds and compliance with financial regulations. What You’ll Do

As our Government Accountant, you’ll be responsible for a variety of accounting and finance tasks essential to our agency’s fiscal health and transparency. Your work will help ensure that public funds are properly tracked, audited, and used efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze financial documents, prepare budgets and reports, assist and perform audits and assure compliance.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
  • Review financial reports prepared by other accountants for accuracy
  • Process, review, and accurately code invoices and expenditures
  • Perform regular account and bank reconciliations
  • Monitor and manage revenue and expenditure accounts
  • Calculate, file, and maintain sales tax records
  • Assist with the development and administration of departmental budgets
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external auditors
  • Maintain and implement financial policies and procedures
  • Provide recommendations to improve cost-efficiency and financial performance
  • Stay current with government accounting standards and legislative updates
  • Assist with year-end closeout and other fiscal year processes

What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a professional who’s not only technically skilled but also enthusiastic about working as a critical member of our team.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Government Accountant or similar accounting role
  • Solid understanding of governmental accounting principles (GAAP, GASB, etc.)
  • Proficiency in financial software and accounting databases
  • Strong skills in bank reconciliations, account coding, and invoice processing
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical thinking
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities
  • In-depth knowledge of financial laws and regulatory standards
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA designation preferred, but not required
