Plant Accountant (Hybrid)

A leading energy provider focused on innovation, operational excellence, and building strong community relationships is seeking an Accountant to join our dedicated Plant Accounting team. This individual will support all accounting and reporting activities related to Utility Plant assets. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in GAAP, a drive to learn, and a passion for professional growth. You will be joining a collaborative 4-person team, where you will be mentored and developed into a key contributor in a critical area of our finance operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist with the accounting, reporting, and analysis of Utility Plant assets in accordance with GAAP, SEC and internal company policies.

• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation related to plant activity.

• Support month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

• Assist in the preparation of regulatory filings and internal financial reports.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, to gather and analyze information related to the plant.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

• 1–5 years of professional accounting experience (public accounting experience a plus, but not required).

• Eagerness to learn and grow in a Utility Plant Accounting environment — no prior plant or cost accounting experience necessary, but is appreciated.

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively within a small team.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general ledger systems.
