We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant with a focus on Accounts Receivable (AR) to join our accounting team. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of relevant experience, strong analytical skills, and a commitment to maintaining accurate financial records. This role is responsible for overseeing the full AR process, ensuring timely collections, and supporting month-end close activities.
This is an onsite, full-time contract role that will last approximately 6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full-cycle Accounts Receivable process, including invoicing, cash application, and collections.
- Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely payment and resolve any billing issues or discrepancies.
- Reconcile AR sub-ledger to the general ledger on a regular basis.
- Prepare and analyze aging reports and follow up with customers on overdue accounts.
- Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including preparation of AR-related journal entries and schedules.
- Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to verify billing accuracy and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate customer records and update billing contacts or payment terms as needed.
- Support external audits by providing necessary documentation related to AR.
- Identify opportunities to improve AR processes and internal controls.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of accounting experience with a strong focus on Accounts Receivable.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
- Experience using accounting software (ERP systems, preference for Acumatica).
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, etc.).
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in a high-volume AR environment.
- Knowledge of sales tax compliance and exemptions.
- Familiarity with B2B collections practices.
