As the project manager, you will be responsible for the scoping, design, construction, and commissioning of large capital projects. Under general direction, you will exercise your judgment and be responsible for all aspects of assigned projects. Projects typically have a multi-year duration, and some may be high profile. As an owner's representative, you will be protecting the client's interests, providing advice, and making decisions in their absence. The position requires skills in managing cross-functional, multi-location project teams using cutting-edge project management methodologies.
Your Day-to-Day Activities: Lead & Execute Lead Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings to review project progress. Lead project scoping, design review, constructability review, competitive bid, construction inspection, commissioning, and as-built incorporation. Drive consensus, communicate responsibilities, and ensure ownership and accountability from each team member on the project Arbitrate and resolve conflicts within the project Recommend project management tools, processes, procedures, and best practices to develop the clients' internal Project Respond to RFI's, execute contracts, process change orders. Review and approve pay applications from contractors and vendors. Plan and Organize Create and maintain project schedules - define activities, work breakdown structures, predecessors, successors, resources, and baselines Develop, monitor, and update cash flow projections Work with the master scheduler to develop and enforce scheduling specifications for contractors Ensure proper project scope control and document control Analyze Analyze and report on variances for project cost and schedule Create and maintain Excel-like spreadsheets for reporting and analysis Measure the progress of activities and milestones in project schedules Perform ad hoc analysis and reporting Assist in the estimating and processing of monthly accruals Communicate Facilitate focused and cross-functional meetings or calls Keep all stakeholders informed of project developments through meeting minutes, risk registers, decision logs, and status reports Represent the client to government agencies and make presentations to senior management and stakeholders Manage Risk Lead the project team in identifying, tracking, and mitigating risks, issues, and opportunities Escalate risks and issues in order to find ways to keep projects on schedule and on budget Identify and communicate lessons learned and incorporate prior lessons learned into projects
You'll be prepared for this job if you have - A Bachelor's degree - Five plus years of work experience in project management, construction management, engineering, or similar field - Experience with owner's rep work - Good verbal and written communication skills
You'll stand out if you have - Experience with Oracle Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project - Professional Engineering (PE) license, Project Management Professional (PMP), or similar certification - A natural tendency for taking ownership and a willingness to lead - A strong commitment to quality and attention to detail - A passion for training and building teams
