Office /Accounting Manager - Assistant Controller Local company seeks confident and self-driven full time Accounting Manager. This a full time position with an established organization M-F 8-5. Positive attitude and professionalism are key traits we required, as well as clear communication skills. Successful candidate will manage office/payroll staff and conduct accounting duties. Duties will include full charge bookkeeping and accounting duties including tax & budget analysis. Job Requirements, Duties and Responsibilities include the following 4 main areas; Bookkeeping & Accounting ? General ledger maintenance, including creation of appropriate journal entries, account reconciliation and month-end closing in Cash-based financials ? Conduct annual budgeting and periodic re-forecasting. ? Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts ? Ensure financial records are maintained in compliance with accepted policies and procedures ? Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met ? Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures ? Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities ? Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses ? Analyze financial information to recommend or develop efficient use of resources and procedures, provide strategic recommendations and maintain solutions to business and financial problems ? Perform job costing ? Prepares and maintains earnings and profit calculations. Manager Duties ? Interview, select, assign and mentor the office staff. Supervises all payroll processing and related activities, including training and evaluation of staff Initiates changes in work assignments or processing to improve efficiency ? Must be able to lineup office staff and keep them on task, with a take charge leadership attitude. ? Must have track record of successfully managing accounting department and delegating duties to maximize effective use of staff time/talent ensuring smooth work flow. . Tax Analyst ? Special emphasis on tax issues including: compliance, analysis and planning, calculating income tax provisions, income tax payments, estimated tax payments, research and analysis of tax laws in order to make recommendations on alternative compliance strategies, analysis of tax implications for potential new business ventures and ensuring compliance with all federal, state and local requirements. ? Will prepare and analyze deferred tax provisions, review support for depreciation calculations, including associated reconciliations, maintain tax compliance calendar, direct the preparation of local property and sales tax returns, research potential tax savings opportunities, maintain current state registrations for corporation and subsidiaries and provide support to subsidiaries on tax issues (i.e. income, franchise, sales, use, transfer, VAT, payroll, excise, privilege and severance taxes, etc.). ? Collaborate on creation of protests and appeals related to any tax audit assessments. Payroll Essential Duties & Responsibilities: This position is responsible for all payroll related activities and directs the work of the payroll staff. It requires a minimum of ten years payroll experience with increasing levels of responsibility in a payroll department that has processed upwards of 75 employees including certified payroll. ? Ensure payroll and tax payments and associated reporting are disbursed timely and accurately. ? Reconcile all payroll related general ledger accounts monthly. ? Create and submit all weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end payroll related reports. These include both federal/state reports (W2?s, 941?s, 940?s, 945?s) and management requested reports. ? Maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws. ? Conduct quarterly payroll tax returns Key Competencies planning and organizing strong communication skills Information and task monitoring problem analysis Judgment and problem-solving supervisory skills stress tolerance Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance from accredited university. CPA or CMA strongly preferred. Experience may be substituted for the degree requirement on a 2:1 basis (two years of experience for every one year of education required for degree completion) Type at 40+ wpm Ten key by touch Proficient with Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word and outlook) Access and power point is a plus. Extensive Quick Books Accounting and Payroll Software (10+ years) Need minimum 10 years accounting and tax related experience. Need at least 3 years of corporate tax experience in medium size corporation or large public accounting firm (Big 4 preferred). Need experience as a manager, supervisor or team lead with strong performance in leadership capacity (2+years) E-mail resume & cover letter with a 150 word (maximum) description of your most significant accomplishment in financial management.
